The Important Role of Parents in a Child’s Education

Farley Nursery Schools have always enjoyed an open and collaborative relationship with our children’s parents, something which we value highly. During recent parents’ evenings at our schools in Farley, Steeple Langford and Sparsholt, Sue gave a very informative talk about how parental input influences a child’s long term attainment. Citing some recent academic studies, Sue talked about the potential positive impact of parental involvement on achievement and adjustment.

Sue underlined that parental involvement in the form of ‘at-home good parenting’ has a significant positive effect on children’s achievement and adjustment even after all other factors shaping attainment have been taken out of the equation. The scale of the impact is evident across all social classes and all ethnic groups.

So we say to out parents, keep up the good work of showing an interest in your child’s day and enjoy discussing with them all the fun things they do at Farley.
