Steeple Langford February Newsletter 2017
Well, January has reminded us that we are still well and truly in Winter! We have had temperatures below freezing throughout the month but we are all still smiling and the children have really enjoyed exploring the frost and ice. We have found animals and toys frozen in the ice and carried out rescue missions to get them out ☺
We have been looking at magic, myth and folklore throughout January. Myth led us nicely into Greek mythology where the children heard the stories of the Minotaur at the centre of a labyrinth. The Top Conkers had a lot of fun creating labyrinths to find their way through on the field and smaller ones to guide balls around with a friend. Bee Garden enjoyed dragon hunts and building fairy houses in the bushes. The babies explored glitter and shiny materials, listened to stories of magical creatures and explored the Dragon that our Top Conkers buried in the sandpit which was an adventure in itself!
At the very end of January, we were all rather excited to see an exciting new arrival to Farley Steeple Langford. We are now the very proud owners of our very own yurt! Our yurt is situated in our Secret Garden and has a lovely wood burning stove. We will be using the yurt for circle times, singing and story times. The children have already enjoyed lounging on our giant bean bags, listening to the rain fall on the canvas above, whilst warming their toes by the fire. If you would like to come and have a look inside when you drop off or collect your children then please just ask one of us and you.re more than welcome to take a peak inside.
February brings with it Valentines Day. We will be having a lovely spaghetti and meatballs meal (with Lady and the Tramp in mind) on the 14th for our High tea and talking about the people we love in our lives. Shrove Tuesday or Pancake Day also falls in February so we will be teaching the children about the beginning of lent. We will also be doing everything that can be done with pancakes! Flipping them, racing with them, making and of course eating them too!
We have had quite a few new children start in January and we would like to say a very well done to them and their parents, as they have settled in beautifully. The nursery is becoming very busy now and we are currently looking for two new members of staff to join our team. If you know of anyone with childcare experience that would like to know more about our current vacancies then please do not hesitate to contact Katie in the office.
From all the team at Farley, Steeple Langford.
